Parent Expectations Please note, we do expect one parent of each child to stay during lessons. If you are looking for an activity where you can "drop-off" your child, this is not the club. On the reverse side, this sport is for your child, so if you are one of those "helicopter" parents, this won't be the club for you, either. We want parents that are willing to help their child and want to help advance the sport of baton twirling. But your coach is in charge of the group. So, bring a folding chair & magazine, hang-out, chat, and enjoy watching. We pride ourselves on encouraging parental involvement. Parents are vital to the successful progression of the child's twirling skills. You will be the one that watches your child practice outside of lessons, therefore, it will be helpful to understand what she has learned during lesson time. By the way, our coaches also have expectations. They expect that when the twirler arrives, she'll be ready to twirl. She'll have the correct tennis shoes, her hair will be up in a pony tail, she'll be wearing shorts and a "t" shirt, and she'll have her baton. If this minimum level of expectation is not met, meaning, if she does not arrive as a baton twirler, she will not particpate in baton twirling class. However, she is welcome to watch from the side line. Our coaches are busy people with stong achievements in baton twirling. They will arrive at lesson time to teach baton twirling, therefore, dealing with temper tantrums won't be tolerated. The expecation is: girls that want to learn will participate in class, girls that want to be disruptive will sit on the side line until they show they are ready to particpate in class. |
